Maxi-mum Style

I have a confession. I never thought I would say this, but I recently converted. No, I'm not talking about religion, I'm talking about skirts. I was always a mini skirt kind of a gal, and don't get me wrong, I still love to show some leg from time to time, but I have recently learned to appreciate the art of the maxi skirt. Apparently I was just in time, because these long, lean, leg lengthening machines are right on trend for this spring. Here are a few of my favorites, where to buy them, and how to wear them once they're in your closet.

Caslon Ruched Waist Maxi Skirt from Nordstrom.

There are few things I love more than a good basic, and this is definitely one of them. I recently bought this online and am already in love! It matches with everything, but I think a plain tank, statement necklace, and strappy sandals look best.

Shirred Maxiskirt from J. Crew.

How great is this little gem? This spring the brighter the hue, the better, and this is no exception. Stick to jewel tones paired with nautical basics (like the top shown here) to look effortlessly chic.

Ever since Rosie Huntington-Whitely stepped out in a sheer maxi the trend has exploded. What I love about this skirt is that it maintains class with its length, while stilling allowing the wearer to show off her legs and, more importantly, shoes! Keep it classy with a blouse or tank in a rich fabric, and make sure to step out in your brightest heels for extra attention. Here is an affordable option from Forever 21.

Max & Mia Crinkled Maxi Skirt from Nordstrom.

This is my absolute favorite shade for the warmer months. Nothing, and I mean nothing, looks better with tanned skin than coral. I also love the airy feel of this material, and the chiffon overlay makes it the perfect day-to-night skirt. Wear it with sandals and a tank on the beach, then throw on some wedges and a big bauble necklace for a night on the town.

Ditsy Dots Asymmetric Skirt from Forever 21.

Talk about edgy! If you're brave enough to give it a try, this asymmetric cut and über chic pattern have the potential to wow even the most daring fashionistas. I love it paired with the booties in the picture, and think it would look awesome with an arm full of bangles and a black leather jacket.

There you have it, ladies and gents (but probably mostly ladies). Happy shopping!
